Experimental. This is part of building sail race performance stats for Dublin Bay racing, and it is entirely optional.
While it runs you get speed and course over ground, and the bearing and distance to your next mark, moving on as you round each one. Stop it after racing and the track is offered as a GPX file.
Your track is recorded on this phone, and the GPX file is yours. When you stop, a completely anonymised copy (positions, speeds and times only, nothing that could identify you) is stored to improve this feature and build the stats, nothing else; it is never shared with anyone. Details in the privacy policy. Your phone will also ask for location permission.
Pick the card for your start, then the course the race officer signals, like "Echo 5".
Marks suffixed p are rounded to port, s to starboard. Start and finish lines are not marks, so the plotted legs begin at the first mark. If anything here differs from the official card, the card is correct.
Readings come from hub.dublinbaybuoy.com. Direction is the compass point the wind is blowing from, the arrows on the chart point the way it is going. The buoy reports hourly, the two shore stations every few minutes, so they will rarely agree exactly.

Every mark position is read from DBSC's published Marks, Bearings and Distances table, which gives each mark to a hundredth of a minute of latitude and longitude. Bearings are true, distances are nautical miles.
The background is a satellite image, and the marks are plotted on it from the table coordinates. It is here to help you recognise a course, not to navigate by. DBSC's own marks chart is a schematic and is used here only for buoy colours and shapes.
Where DBSC publishes a bearing and distance for a leg, that published figure is what you see. A figure marked c is calculated from the two positions instead, which happens only for legs DBSC does not tabulate, or for a leg from your own GPS position.
The Cards button holds DBSC's published preset courses for each start: the race officer signals a course like "Echo 5", where Echo is the wind direction group on the day's card and 5 is the course within it. Marks suffixed p are rounded to port and s to starboard, the same red and green as the printed card. If anything here differs from the official card or the race officer's signal, they are correct.
For hut starts the line runs through one of the limit marks off the hut, and which colour is only shown at the hut on the day. The Start mark row sets it, and each colour plots as the first point of the course: orange, black and green from DBSC's data (black comes from the machine-readable marks file, so its legs are calculated), and yellow at the X (Turning) buoy, which DBSC confirmed is the yellow limit mark. Start and finish lines themselves are not marks, so the plotted course runs mark to mark.
Tap any wind dial on the chart for speed, gust, direction and how long ago that station last reported. Readings come from the marine hub; the buoy reports hourly and the shore stations every few minutes. Any station can be hidden from that panel, which takes it off the chart and out of anything you share, and tightens the picture around what is left.

Stop it after racing and the track is offered as a GPX file for analysis, and a completely anonymised copy (positions, speeds and times only) is stored to improve the feature and build race performance stats; it carries nothing that identifies you and is never shared. It is new this season, so treat the numbers as a second opinion, not the race officer's.
